Lisa is
married to Salem native, Reid Garst. Reid is a graduate of Salem
High School where he was co-captain of the football team and sang in the
Chorale. Reid also graduated from Virginia Military Institute and the College of
William and
Mary, Graduate School of Business. Lisa and Reid have one daughter, Ashby,
a first grader in the Salem school system. The Garsts also have a
shepherd/collie mix, Cookie, and a yellow cat, Jeb. Many people know
their late pet, Zeke, the yellow lab, who was memorialized with Zeke's
Beach Bar - a watering hole for dogs on their walk up Hawthorn Road in
Salem.
Lisa's parents are the late Calvin and Iris Dressler. Calvin and Iris
worked together in his general
contracting business in Covington.
Lisa has two sisters, Eunice Dressler Wright of Covington and Dawn
Dressler of Amarillo, Texas. Eunice, a graduate of National College,
has served Covington since being elected in 1985 as the City
Treasurer. Dawn, a graduate of Radford University, has a distinguished
career in
journalism
and is the Executive Editor of the Amarillo Globe News.
Reid's
parents are Reid and Judy Garst of Salem. Reid has one
brother, Chuck
Garst, also of Salem. Reid Sr. is retired from General Electric
but continues to work as a consultant. Judy was a teacher in
Salem for many years. Reid and Judy are active church and community
volunteers.
